After a rainy day in Paris, the city of lights glows all the more as the Saint Laurent SS20 collection was revealed under the Eiffel Tower!! In an an open-air spectral light show, the models stride down the catwalk showcasing the best the brand has to offer. It’s an event which gathers hundreds of onlookers to see the show of the season.
Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello focuses on the biggest spring trend with shorts suits, and put his own spin on the Russian peasant inspired collections of the Seventies with the return of the turban and finishes with Le Smoking tuxedo all while revamping to fit the tastes of the current generation.
The show starts with a strong show of shorts looks with high boots and jackets that go both rock and I just stepped out of the office at the same time. Belts are a must and so are long necklaces.
Then the show evolved to a return to the 70s with turbans and gilded brocade on feather-light dresses, flowing chiffon blouses, peasant smocks pleated skirts, off-the-shoulder necklines and billowing pants in boot looks.
After a dramatic pause, the final began with the Saint Laurent signature Smoking tuxedos. The first Smoking look was led by Stella Tennant and closed out by Naomi Campbell. The message strong and clear that Saint Laurent is for women of all ages. Le Smoking Tuxedo was in every shade of black in silk, leather and sequins, with jackets cropped, elongated, and tailcoats.
