Laruicci Shines Brighter Than The City Lights

Counter culture shines bright in Laruicci’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection. Inspired by New York City’s street style of the 1960s - 80s, historically masculine icons such as keys, locks and studs are reappropriated to define a look of feminine rebellion in this lucent composition of jewelry. In an Edie Sedgwick meets Nancy Spungen throwback, Laruicci layers a mix of 18k Gold, Rose Gold, Lucite and Rhodium plated brass to offset an overlay of dangling geometric forms that intertwine with crosses and safety pins. Metallic chokers and chains that lie between futuristic and mid-evil armor, oversized earrings and statement necklaces embellished with glimmering Aurora Borealis crystals are reminiscent of the metallic deco building facades and glimmering lights found day or night in the city that never sleeps. The highlight of the collection comes from Laruicci’s collaboration with The Blonds. As an ultramodern nod to Hip Hop, oversized hoops take on a new scale as the once-earring is transformed into a metallic headband. Paired with the matching silver choker and jeweled cuffs, Laruiccci‘s new collection has defined the “underground edge” for the next generation of women warriors.
