The past meets the present with Katrine K. – Prêt à couture SS 2019
In the embellished setting of the “Salon Opera” of the Intercontinental Paris le Grand Hotel, one of the largest and most beautiful ballrooms in Paris, Katrine K. showcased their new Spring-Summer 2019 collection: “Heirloom Renaissance”.
“From the early 19th Century and the Belle Époque to the fusion of 70s and 80s, the collection constitutes the blossoming of women’s power. It also represents admiration of beauty.“
Attention to Details
Gigot sleeves, broad shoulders, large belts and wide tailor collars were predominant silhouettes in the collection. The colors varied within beiges, deep blues, and included checked outfits. Embroidered applications and hand-crafted accessories attenuated strong silhouettes. This elegantly balanced stiffness and fluidity through the ensemble.

The “Heirloom Renaissance” collection by Katrine K. felt like a modern tribute to Parisian glamour. The Salon Opera setting helped the clothes read as ceremony, not just styling. In addition, the ballroom lighting highlighted every embroidered detail. As a result, the craftsmanship stayed visible from every angle, even on the strongest silhouettes.
Story Telling in Fashion
The Spring-Summer 2019 collection built a clear story about women’s power. It used historical references, but it never looked like a costume. Instead, Katrine translated heritage into wearable confidence. Moreover, the mix of Belle Époque romance and late 20th-century attitude gave the looks energy. This made the Heirloom Renaissance theme feel current and direct.

Shape did most of the talking. Gigot sleeves and broad shoulders created authority. However, the wide tailor collars kept the line sharp and clean. Large belts then pulled the eye to the waist. Therefore, each outfit balanced strength with control. The palette also supported this idea. Beige tones softened the structure, while deep blues added depth. Checked outfits brought contrast and rhythm.

Furthermore, the collection mixed stiffness and fluidity without losing clarity. For example, structured pieces still allowed the body to move. Altogether, Katrine K. delivered a Spring-Summer 2019 collection that felt precise, polished, and rooted in purpose. The Heirloom Renaissance collection showed how tradition can evolve, and still feel powerful.

Finally, the show delivered clear takeaways for anyone tracking Paris fashion and luxury design. The Katrine K. Spring-Summer 2019 collection proved that embellishment can support a strong cut. It also showed how a limited color range can feel rich when the textiles work hard. In the end, Heirloom Renaissance positioned Katrine K. as a label that respects history, yet designs for the present. That balance is what made the collection memorable.
