Hong Kong Designers Shake Up Paris

Mia Macfarlane

The Fashion Farm Foundation HKFG SS26 showcase lit up Paris on September 30, 2025. Seven Hong Kong womenswear labels took over Rue Saint Maur during Paris Fashion Week. As a result, Hong Kong design talent gained global visibility while leaving an unforgettable mark on the city.

Fashion Farm Foundation (FFF) launched HKFG in 2013 to push emerging designers into the international spotlight. Since then, the program has become a bridge between Hong Kong’s creative scene and the world’s major fashion capitals. This season, the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode once again recognized HKFG as part of its official calendar. Therefore, Hong Kong fashion stepped onto the same stage as established European houses.

KINYAN LAM: Storms, Summers, and Memory

KINYAN LAM’s SS26 collection recalled childhood summers after heavy rain. A boy runs barefoot through puddles, then dives into a river, shocked but alive. That image shaped airy fabrics in linen, ramie, and cotton. Loose silhouettes and hand embroidery emphasized freedom and ease. Because of this direct storytelling, the collection resonated with Paris audiences looking for authenticity.

REVERIE BY CAROLINE HÚ: Quasi-Human Fragility

Caroline Hú drew inspiration from social unease. Her partner studies and imitates others to feel natural in a crowd. She called this tension “quasi-human behaviour.” The collection reflected both restraint and release. Layers captured fragility but also strength. As a result, the clothes mirrored how identity bends under pressure but does not break.

SWEETLIMEJUICE: Quiet Rebellion, Spiked Grace

SWEETLIMEJUICE’s “POINT OF GRACE” explored rebellion in subtle form. Fruits pierced on metal spears inspired jewellery that blurred charm and armor. Shapes referenced feathers, eggs, and pen nibs. Each design balanced softness with spikes. In addition, the collection whispered that luck follows intent, not chance. Therefore, rebellion could live in delicate details, not only in loud gestures.

Other Highlights: Hybrid Worlds and Psychedelic Tales

AENRMOUS rooted its SS26 story in myth with “The 1805 Part II.” The Whispering Tree of Eternity carried golden fruits that symbolized wisdom and renewal. Meanwhile, IP AXIS INDUSTRIAL STUDIO looked forward with “Future Biogenesis.” This vision fused genetics, AI, and machines into hybrid life forms.

JESSE LEE went surreal with “Nine Lives Odyssey,” mixing Edwardian elegance with Louis Wain’s psychedelic cats. The result combined tailoring with playful fantasy. SELFFAB. took a harder edge with “HYBRIDIZED.” Instead of celebrating origin, it reflected today’s fragmented identities stitched from memory.

Because of their variety, the seven labels created a showcase that moved between folklore, technology, rebellion, and survival. However, they all carried one clear message: Hong Kong fashion refuses to stay invisible.

A Global Bridge for Hong Kong Fashion

HKFG does more than stage shows. It creates connections. After Paris, the designers will return to Hong Kong for product launches and networking. In addition, they will head to Shanghai Fashion Week to expand their influence. Therefore, the initiative sustains momentum beyond one event.

Fashion Farm Foundation HKFG SS26 proved that Paris belongs not only to heritage couture houses. Instead, it also belongs to designers who stitch myths, storms, machines, and rebellion into their seams. As a result, Hong Kong’s voice is rising—and Paris is paying attention.

One day when I was barely two my mom let me push her out of her bedroom. She was curious so she ran outside the house so she could watch me through the window. I climbed up on a chair by her vanity and started putting on her makeup. I loved playing dress up as a kid. Putting on my mom's sequin tube tops and high heeled shoes and then putting on a dance show in the lobby or the restaurant of the hotel/residence we lived in. It was the best childhood ever. Dress-up, dancing, playing with barbies, and drawing were my favorite things to do. I have not changed one bit today. If I am creating I am happy.

Now I am in Paris for the second time in my life and I am having a ball playing with my partner in crime Julien Crouigneau. We founded IRK Magazine together in 2015 and we are proud to collaborate with some amazing artists, and influencers.

We are also a photography duo under the pseudonym French Cowboy. We love to tell stories and create poetic images that are impactful.
