HOMA DESIGN STUDIO WHERE MATERIALS EVOLVE

Kendra Dresser

Craft, chance, and controlled experimentation shape how glass, marble, and mirror evolve at HOMA design studio.

HOMA DESIGN STUDIO

Emerged in 2021, HOMA design studio spirit reaches far beyond the present moment. Founded by Tuğba Koç, the studio draws from centuries of craft while speaking fluently to contemporary culture. Based between Vienna and Istanbul, it therefore exists within a constant dialogue between tradition and transformation.

CRAFT AS A LIVING PROCESS

At HOMA, craft never signals an ending. Instead, it marks a beginning. Traditional techniques such as glassblowing, stone carving, and mirroring are pushed into experimentation.

Consequently, materials evolve, respond, and resist through heat, chemistry, and time.

Letting Materials Speak

Glass, marble, copper, and mirror are treated as active subjects. Each carries memory, emotion, and unpredictability. Moreover, reflection becomes a conceptual tool tied to perception and self-awareness rather than surface beauty alone.

TENSION DEFINES THE AESTHETIC AT HOMA DESIGN STUDIO

HOMA’s language thrives on opposition. Transparency meets opacity. Fragility encounters strength. Control exists alongside chance. As a result, every piece feels charged with quiet tension and depth.

Curved and concave surfaces shift how light behaves. Reflection bends perception. Therefore, objects feel architectural, atmospheric, and deeply present within a space.

SPACE, LIGHT, AND ATMOSPHERE

HOMA, materials evolve

HOMA designs are never isolated artefacts. Instead, they shape environments. Light becomes structural. Reflection edits spatial awareness. Meanwhile, the line between sculpture and function gently dissolves.

THE HAND AND THE INTUITION

Tuğba Koç’s Vision

Trained in interior architecture and abstract painting, Koç works intuitively with materials. Her experimental mirroring relies on chemical reactions and chance. Thus, no two surfaces, or objects, are ever the same.

Ethics And Collaboration

HOMA design studio collaborates with master artisans and a women-led team. Respect for heritage craft sits beside innovation. Consequently, each piece carries care as well as concept.

COLLECTION HIGHLIGHTS

The Elara Collection captures motion within mouth-blown glass forms. Orbis reshapes reclaimed marble around reflective cores, freezing stone mid movement. NACRE merges two glass forms in a single continuous act, preserving heat and pressure.

Meanwhile, the Ash and Nebula collections explore smoke, silver, depth, and introspection through sculptural furniture and mirrors.

WHY HOMA DESIGN STUDIO MATTERS

Finally, HOMA design studio resists speed, repetition, and excess. Instead, it values slowness, uncertainty, and the way material evolves through craft and experimentation. In a world of replicas, its work reminds us how rare presence can feel.

Kendra Dresser is in Communications and Public Relations with a focus on how fashion, media, and culture shape the way we see the world and ourselves.

She’s interested in the connection between image and meaning: how a campaign, an outfit, or a trend can say something deeper about identity, mood, and the cultural moment.

She’s especially drawn to how Generation Z uses fashion and beauty to express individuality, often in bold, layered, and playful ways. She’s also curious about how social media continues to reshape storytelling, changing how we create, share, and connect through visual culture.

To Kendra, fashion is more than just style; it’s a language! One that reflects who we are, how we feel, and what we stand for. She’s committed to sustainability and believes fashion and culture should not only inspire but also respect the planet.
