Patrick Michael Hughes is the Menswear Editor and Photographer, covering the New York and London Men’s Fashion Weeks. He joined IRK Magazine during winter of 2017.
Patrick is a contributor to Teen Vogue“Unlocking Visual Style”, an online subscription focused on fashion industry essentials encouraging young girls and boys that their fashion career starts now! He has contributed to a number of publications as a
historical style voice from the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Vogue-India, ABC Good Morning America, Anderson Cooper CNN, Men’s Health UK and a host of others. Along with staying current and keeping a real observational fashion voice he has spent time and speaking internationally to designers, product development teams and marketing teams within the companies such as Inditex Headquarters in Spain and global management teams for Levis. He has also worked closely with LVMH headquarters in NYC as a fashion and style educator in a unique multi-level executive development-training program for high- level mandarin speaking Chinese entering luxury retail careers within LVMH brands. In 2017 he completed a seven-city speaking/workshop tour in China.
Something that makes Patrick comfortable in the trenches of fashion is that he was also a reporter and producer for a handful of years for New York local hyper-digital news outlet, covering NY Fashion Week, Young NYC Society and lots of street fashion. In addition, Patrick has had a career in fashion from picking up pins to fashion PR. He is active menswear photographer, creating capsule test editorials with new face male models for agencies and portfolio development for New York, Milan and South African markets.
After a fancy and progressive private school education leading to an undergraduate from Manhattanville College and a graduate degree from the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in the History of Decorative Arts and Design as well as studying at the Louvre in Paris he is just...comfortable identifying as a Fashion and Style Historian. Currently, he is an Associate Teaching Professor at Parsons School of Design leading integrated design and fashion content design studios in the School of Art and Design History and Theory and seminars in the Fashion Business Certificate and Fashion Design Professional Programs.
