Bono Van Peursem introduces us to his new Spring / Summer 2019 collection called "Drowning in Sequins". A dazzling collection inspired by pink quartz; a symbol of a strong and feminine woman.
Rose quartz carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It dissolves emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates and inspires creativity among other things. IRK Magazine can see why the Dutch designer is inspired by one of the most fascinating works of nature. Even the process of transforming minerals into crystals. The way something so soft can change into something very strong and structured. A process that takes time and patience.
As Bono Van Peursem sees his women as very strong and feminine creatures ready to conquer the world, he likes the idea that pink quartz crystals protect women from their own insecurities or vulnerabilities while wearing them. Throughout the collection, minerals can be seen running down the dresses, starting with soft drapery silhouettes, dripping fringes while slowly turning into crystals of tears, then slowly turning back into more textured crystallized pieces.
Using the most luxurious self-duchess satin, hand-embroidered lurex fabrics, sequins and ostrich feathers, hand-dyed in the most beautiful shades of pink, Bono Van Peursem gives us a picture of a paradoxical woman.
