Andrew GN Powerful Spring 2020 Collection
Andrew GN this season refined and feminine style took a twist of sassiness. The Madame Pompadour inspired collection evoked a spirit of the 18th century. It included marked waistlines with more voluminous skirts. Additionally, there were conservative necklines, lace, and the designer’s iconic floral prints. This spirit was modernized with punk leather boots and accessories. Additionally, hairstyles such as minimalist buns added a contemporary touch. The bright floral prints of the collection also gave a colorful and less uptight side to the collection. It was also in these prints you could see the designers homeland influence and that of Asia. Blue and white patterns evocative of Chinese pottery stood out. Florals with lotus flowers and exotic blooms were a dead give away to Andrew GN’s roots.
Floral applications in vivid colours
The show started surprising us with a geometrical cut mini dress in denim. But immediately contrasted with the second look. It included a buttoned white mini dress paired with a light cape in a traditional blue and white floral print. It was evident that Andrew GN’s touch on the collection created a large diversity of textures and movements. The unique signature of Andrew GN culminated in a gorgeous canary yellow gown. It featured satin and organza floral applications in vivid colours.
Designer Andrew GN explained in interview with IRK Magazine his source of inspiration for this spring summer seasons collection:
Madame Pompadour
Madame Pompadour a woman from the 18th century who was part of the Royal Court was my inspiration. She was from a very humble background, but then she became the mistress of Louis XV. She was not only known for her beauty, but also for intelligence and also her involvement in art and politics. So, for me, she is a very modern woman for her time. Andrew GN told us.
