Kunihiko Morinaga's inspiration for this playful and innovative collection from children's building blocks. Through the patterns and into larger shapes and forms he was able to create unique pieces. Morinaga did not stop there though as he designed each look so that it can be broken down and reassembled into new shapes.
Exaggerated seams conceal systems of snaps that allow the garments to be deconstructed and reconstructed into more looks. From the first pieces of the show where the blocks are contained the show turns gradually to the rebuilt blocks mixing patterns and different fabrics including velvet, fake fur and denim.
It became clear that one can mix and match the collections. If one chooses to buy an Anrealage blue sweater a yellow down coat one can exchange the arms of one for another. How very tempting. IRK is certainly tempted to play!
