Works & Process Announces Fall 2025 Season

This Autumn, once again, Works & Process returns with a bold season that celebrates artistic innovation from the very first idea through to performance. Centred in New York’s cultural landmarks, the program skillfuly combines premieres, residencies, and dance parties. This creates a vibrant creative platform.

The season unfolds across key venues: the Guggenheim’s Peter B. Lewis Theatre and Rotunda, Manhattan West’s outdoor stage, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. Together, these spaces blend history with fresh, exciting visions. bringing tradition and innovation into conversation.

Premieres & Performances

At the Guggenheim, premieres include Food Opera: Carême: The Taster, a multisensory collaboration with Sensable and Studio Simkin. Additionally, Emily Coates presents Tell Me Where It Comes From, inspired by Balanchine’s archives. Furthermore, Princess Lockerooo’s the NutWAACKer offers a bold reimagining infused with NYC’s underground dance energy.

Additionally, other highlights include Lar Lubovitch’s six-decade solo retrospective on September 7th, the Metropolitan Opera’s preview of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay on September 8th. New York City Ballet’s Jamar Roberts debuts a new work on September 14th, and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre’s November premiere adds to the excitement.

After performances, the Guggenheim Rotunda hosts dance parties featuring Dance Theatre of Harlem and Ailey Extension. Additionally, these events honour artists such as Rauschenberg and Rashid Johnson with special recognitions.

Community & Engagement

Meanwhile, Manhattan West offers a free weekly dance series. This ranges from Latin Hustle to Queer Line Dancing, inviting diverse communities to connect through movement.

At the same time, at the New York Public Library, Emily Coates will share her research on Balanchine’s early works on October 23rd. This presentation bridges archival discoveries with contemporary creation.

Residencies & Commissions

Moreover, Works & Process supports artists through 21 fully funded residencies across the Northeast. These include stipends, housing, and studio access. Featured artists this season include jazz tap innovator Ayodele Casel, and the experimental collective Johnny Loves Johann. In addition, commissioned works from the season will tour both nationally and internationally.
