Popstar Tea Space: A Creative Hub in the Heart of Brno

In Brno, Czech Republic, Popstar Tea Space brings together three interconnected Czech brands and serves as their shared operational headquarters and production hub: the music label Mike Roft, the creative collective Rychlí Kluci, and the lifestyle beverage brand Popstar Tea. Moreover, music production, digital content creation, live events, and brand communication all come together within a single, flexible environment.

Covering just 57 square metres, Popstar Tea Space was firstly designed as a multifunctional workspace. It accommodates a wide range of activities under one roof. The teams behind the three brands use the space on a daily basis to work, record podcasts, host promotional concerts, conduct interviews, and launch new products. More than simply an office, the venue also functions as a showroom. In addition, Popstar Tea Space fully integrates the three brands into the cultural landscape from which it emerged.

A Workspace Designed for Multiple Functions

The entire project is built around a simple idea: enabling every activity to take place within one continuous space. Therefore, the interior adopts a fluid and adaptable layout capable of transforming throughout the day to meet changing needs and functions. As a result, the space seamlessly accommodates different activities as they unfold. Much like the flexibility found in the Popstar Tea Space concept, this adaptability is core to the design.

Architecture Designed for Flexibility

Alongside the main room, the venue includes a dedicated back-of-house area. This area comprises a separate control room, a small office, and a storage space for technical equipment. As a result, this operational core keeps recording, streaming, and production workflows running seamlessly, regardless of how teams configure the space. This is central to Popstar Tea Space’s approach.

Mobility and flexibility were fundamental principles throughout the design process. Custom furniture pieces are fitted with castors, allowing the layout to be reconfigured quickly. In addition, sliding partitions made from lightweight aluminium frames and coloured acrylic panels can open, divide, or redefine the space as required. Beyond their functional purpose, these elements form the project’s most expressive architectural feature. Therefore, they continuously transform the atmosphere through shifting compositions of colour, transparency, and reflection. They support the ever-changing spirit of Popstar Tea Space.

Materiality and Spatial Experience

The carefully selected material palette reinforces this sense of clarity and transformation. Stainless steel introduces light, movement, and energy while evoking the technical character of a production studio. This industrial aesthetic is softened by plywood, which adds warmth and tactility. At the same time, plywood references the legacy of Czech modernist architecture, particularly the spatial logic of Villa Tugendhat. Coloured acrylic panels complete the composition by filtering natural light. They also extend the vibrant identity of Popstar Tea Space throughout the interior.

The experience of arrival also shapes the overall architectural concept. After passing through the historic building, visitors enter a bright, flexible environment that represents the final destination. At the end of the journey, they discover a “paradise on Earth.” The signature Popstar Tea Space creates a sense of discovery for guests.

Popstar Tea Space reflects a contemporary model of cultural production in which music, media, and brand identity operate as a single interconnected ecosystem. Consequently, architecture becomes the framework that supports this dynamic. This, it provides a space equally suited to everyday work, live performances, content creation, and communication within a unique, adaptable environment.
