Mother and Amoeba Music: Beyond Denim

Alessandro Cariani

Mother and Amoeba Music team up on a limited capsule made for vinyl lovers, bringing Los Angeles denim and record-store culture together.

Since 2010, Mother has made a name for itself with its cult jeans. From the Hustler to the Maven, its silhouettes draw on the electric spirit of 1970s Los Angeles. Yet, while this blend of vintage nostalgia and contemporary culture has defined the brand’s aesthetic, it has also overshadowed the rest of its work. This week, Mother proves its relevance once again with a new collaboration with the legendary record store Amoeba Music.

An LA institution

Founded in the 1990s, Amoeba has become a cornerstone of the city’s music scene. It is one of the largest independent record stores in the world. It has a loyal following of celebrities and artists and has a famous What’s in My Bag? series. It has grown into a destination in its own right. Making any partnership a coveted way for brands to tap into the legacy of LA’s music culture.

The new Soundtrack of your wardrobe

With Amoeba Music setting the mood, it’s time for the best part of the song. This limited-edition capsule is music to the ears of vinyl lovers. It features six unisex styles and accessories designed for true music enthusiasts. The highlight? Surely the punk-inspired Drifter Jacket, covered in colorful pins, paired with carpenter pants finished with a co-branded label. But don’t worry, there’s something for everyone, with T-shirts, a sweatshirt, and even a tote bag for more discreet fans. Ranging from €190 to €580, the collection Mother x Amoeba Music is already out. So there is no excuses for letting your style hit snooze!

“We wanted the collection to feel like pieces you might come across while digging through vintage bins,” Tim Kaeding, MOTHER’s co-founder and creative director.

Ultimately, the Amoeba Music collaboration connects two familiar rituals. Firstly, finding a record worth taking home and then discovering a piece worth keeping. With this intention, the pins, graphics, and relaxed shapes turn that shared sense of discovery into a wardrobe with its own playlist.
