Elie Saab’s Spring 2027: A Love Letter Written in Silk

For Elie Saab Spring 2027, the Lebanese couturier looked to Jean Harlow for “À Fleur de Peau.” His muse feels everything and lets you see it.
Some people have a kind of glamour that no one can teach. Jean Harlow had it: the platinum ease, the bias-cut satin that seemed to move a half-second after she did. She always looked as though she was heading somewhere more interesting than where you were standing. For Spring 2027, Elie Saab borrowed that ease and gave it a pulse.
The collection takes its name from “À Fleur de Peau,” a French phrase suggesting feelings that lie close to the surface. It is an apt title for a season so devoted to closeness. These clothes hover, cling and occasionally slip. Meanwhile, the woman wearing them treats vulnerability as a style.
Elie Saab Spring 2027: Hollywood After Hours
Start with the gowns. They pour rather than drape, tracing the body with an intimacy that recalls Hollywood dressing rooms of the 1930s. But Saab is too modern to simply recreate a costume. Linings trail loose, lace edges peek out where they shouldn’t, and hems fall at deliberate angles. The effect is polish that has started, beautifully, to come apart. Think of the last hour of a very good party.
Layering, meanwhile, is the season’s quiet engine. Pieces go on and off with a shrug: a slip under a slip, a bralette paired with its matching skirt. Elsewhere, a loosely knotted trench falls over sheer midi-length layers. As a result, the dressing looks spontaneous, although every layer has its place.
Saab Takes the Boudoir Outside
In Elie Saab Spring 2027, the designer also moves the boudoir firmly out of the bedroom. In sage, powder blue and blush, silk wraps suggest as much as they reveal. Roses climb over black lace gowns and pale pink silk that owe an obvious debt to lingerie.
Corsets also arrive with small provocations: tiny flowers, a bolero sliding from one shoulder, a single satin strap barely holding on. The ruffles and ribbons should read as girlish. Yet in Saab’s hands, they feel knowing, very much the choices of a grown woman.
The shoes follow the same logic. Ballerinas reach improbable heights, while mules cross over the foot with a certain intent. Nothing here is sensible, and nothing needs to be.
Elie Saab’s Cinematic Finishing Touches
The finishing touches were the most cinematic of all. Tiny flowers and glinting droplets dotted faces like dew. Together, they added a romantic, slightly surreal note that softened the sensuality with a wink.
Meanwhile, gold-plated butterfly sunglasses bearing the house monogram introduced Saab’s new eyewear line. Alongside the silk and lace, they gave the Spring Summer 2027 collection another distinctive signature.
Elie Saab has long been fashion’s reliable romantic. He is the designer you call when the occasion demands a dress everyone will remember. What made Elie Saab Spring 2027 feel different was its tenderness. The glamour was still there, as it always is. But this time it came with a heartbeat, close to the skin.
